about

Alluding to the 1970’s cartoons: ‘Love is…The Sunshine Delay’; this celebrated EP also shares the name of the title track.

Recorded live and acoustic in the band’s rehearsal space by Andrew Taylor (Dropkick), this collection of tracks conjures the freedom of uncomplicated love, both platonic and romantic, in Love Is, following Paula’s winter drive across the USA from Indio Wells, California to Chicago, Illinois. The more intense and tricky She Looks Fine (From Here) charts the confusion and disillusionment of unexplained miscarriage whilst putting on a brave face, the theme of which carries through to the melodic lullaby of Good News.

The EP includes two covers much-loved by the band: Ron Sexsmith’s Secret Heart, interpreted beautifully by David McKee; and John Prine’s evocative Angel From Montgomery, echoing Bonnie Raitt’s female twist. Lastly, back-catalogue favourite Country Crush, receives an acoustic spin.
