about

Recorded swiftly on the back of two exclusive USA mini-tours, Outrageous Expectations pulls together a narrative of the band’s experiences since forming in 2001. Hitting the wild and stormy roads – and venues! – of the Scottish Highlands, to the highs of playing together and exploring dangerous attractions, through the inevitability and heartache of relationship let downs and break-ups… and always told with a sardonic line and a heartfelt, hooky chorus.

The album includes two bonus tracks from earlier recording sessions: Country Crush, written at the tail-end of fellow-Americana-troubadours, the Riptones, UK tour, with whom lead guitarist, Iain Barbour, had played during his 1998-89 USA sojourn, and featuring The Pearlfishers’ Davie Scott on Hammond organ. And Can’t Run From Love bringing to life the band’s Power Pop roots.

Outrageous Expectations features a trio of drummers as outgoing Fran McCulloch hands over the sticks to incoming Dave McManus, with long-term dep, Neil Somerville, keeping the band steady in the interim as: “A band that deserves to go far in the unpredictable world of music” (Maverick Magazine); and without a doubt “Scotland’s finest alt-country roots rockers” (Americana UK).
